Slate Family Services, LLC is a Washington-based, for-profit provider of non-clinical, skills-based services for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, focused on fostering independence, daily living skills, and meaningful community involvement through individualized support.
Individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families often face significant gaps in support, including long waitlists, limited preventive services, fragmented systems, and a lack of accessible, skills-based education. These challenges can leave families feeling overwhelmed and individuals without the tools they need to thrive independently and confidently within their communities.
Our programs exist to bridge these gaps.
By prioritizing early education, prevention, skill development, and community inclusion, we help individuals build practical abilities that support independence, self-advocacy, and long-term success. When skills are taught in ways that honor each person’s learning style and strengths, individuals are better prepared to navigate daily life, relationships, school, work, and community settings.
Choosing the right program depends on the age of the individual and the type of support being sought.
If you are seeking services for an adult age 18 or older: Adult Services (AL)
If you are a parent seeking education or caregiver support: F.E.A.S.T.–Family
If your child needs non-clinical skill-building support: F.E.A.S.T.–Youth
If your child needs therapy or clinical treatment: We can assist with referrals to licensed providers

Families benefit from access to education, advocacy, and guidance that empowers them to make informed decisions and create supportive environments at home and beyond. When families are strengthened, communities are strengthened as well.
Our model is intentionally non-clinical and skills-based, allowing us to serve individuals across the lifespan while complementing—rather than replacing—medical or therapeutic services. This approach promotes accessibility, reduces barriers to participation, and supports sustainable growth for individuals and families alike.
By operating through both a service-focused organization and a charitable foundation, we are able to respond to diverse needs responsibly—providing direct supports, educational programming, and inclusive community opportunities while maintaining transparency, accountability, and appropriate use of resources.
Ultimately, these services are about more than programs—they are about dignity, opportunity, and belonging. When individuals are supported with the right tools and families are empowered with knowledge and resources, communities become stronger, more inclusive, and better equipped for the future.
