E.N.G.A.G.E. Community Enrichment Events

Fun Engagement & Community Enrichment Events is a community-based program of S.L.A.T.E. Family Services, LLC designed to promote social connection, inclusion, and meaningful participation for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and their families.

Program Overview

The E.N.G.A.G.E. Program is a community-based enrichment program offered by S.L.A.T.E. Family Services that promotes social connection, confidence, inclusion, and independence for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and their families.

E.N.G.A.G.E. is available through both S.L.A.T.E. Family Services, LLC for adults ages 18+ and the S.L.A.T.E. Family Services Foundation for youth, families, and community access initiatives. Events and activities are thoughtfully planned to be age-appropriate and developmentally appropriate, ensuring each participant can engage safely and meaningfully.

Types of Events

Events may include age-appropriate activities such as themed dances, social mixers, game nights, group outings, community celebrations, and structured social events for both youth and adults (18+). For adult participants, offerings may also include speed friending or dating-style events. All activities are thoughtfully designed to support communication skills, relationship-building, confidence, and meaningful community participation in a safe and supportive environment.

E.N.G.A.G.E Community Enrichment Events are designed to:

• Promote social inclusion and meaningful engagement
• Strengthen communication and interpersonal skills
• Build confidence, independence, and self-advocacy
• Support family connection and community belonging
• Provide enriching experiences outside of clinical or Medicaid-funded services

Sponsorship & Community Partnerships

This program is supported through community sponsorships, partnerships, and event underwriting. Sponsorship support may include venue space, event supplies, refreshments, entertainment, transportation assistance, or financial contributions to offset program costs.

Community partners are recognized as valued collaborators in building inclusive, accessible opportunities for individuals and families.

This program aligns with S.L.A.T.E.’s mission of Social Skills, Life Skills, Advocacy, Training, and Education by creating shared experiences that foster connection, growth, and community participation.

Important Program Information

E.N.G.A.G.E Community Enrichment Events are non-clinical in nature and are not a substitute for therapy, behavioral health treatment, or medical services. Participation is voluntary and open to individuals and families seeking community connection and enrichment opportunities. Through structured social events, community outings, and inclusive activities, E.N.G.A.G.E. creates welcoming spaces where individuals can build skills, form relationships, and feel a true sense of belonging.
